Residence Hall COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement

Hello Students,

To enhance campus safety in the face of the ongoing global pandemic, Mount St. Joseph University is implementing a COVID-19 vaccination requirement for all students living in the Seton Residence Hall in the 2021-2022 academic year. Exemptions to this requirement may be made for medical reasons or for a sincerely held religious belief. This requirement for residential students is consistent with the guidance of the American College Health Association, who cited COVID-19 vaccine requirements as “the most effective way for institutions of higher education to return to a safe, robust on-campus experience for students in fall semester 2021.”

All other Mount St. Joseph University students are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Aside from the known health benefits of vaccination, the benefits to University students include the following:

  • Fully vaccinated students will no longer need to be restricted from campus following an exposure to COVID-19 as long as they are asymptomatic.
  • Fully vaccinated residents of the Seton Residence Hall will no longer need to quarantine following a known exposure as long as they are asymptomatic.
  • Fully vaccinated students will be exempted from routine COVID-19 screening testing on our campus*.

Residential students must submit proof of vaccination to Student Health Services no later than August, 1st, 2021. To submit proof of your COVID-19 vaccination, please email a photo of your vaccination card to or fax a copy of your records to 513-244-4594. If you wish to request a medical or religious exemption from this requirement, please contact Amy Metzger at to complete the necessary forms.
