Academic Success Resources for Undergraduates

Academic Advising

Academic advising is available for all degree-seeking students. Students that have declared a major are assigned to a faculty advisor associated with that major. Students can identify their advisor and find contact information by logging in to myMount and doing the following:

  • Select the Academics tab at the top of the page.
  • Click the My Academic Record link on the left hand navigation bar.

Traditional Students

Before registering for class, traditional students must meet with their advisors, who provide registration clearance on myMount.

Traditional students that have not declared a major are assigned to an academic advisor in the Academic Exploration Program. Students can learn more about the Academic Exploration Program in the Academic Advising Resource Center.

Adult and Non-Traditional Students

Adult and non-traditional students are encouraged to meet or talk with their advisor before registering for classes. Advisor registration clearance for adult and non-traditional students is required for the following majors: art, biology, chemistry, education, mathematics, nursing, legal studies, psychology and social work.

Adult or non-traditional students that have not declared a major are assigned to an academic advisor in the Academic Advising Resource Center. Learn more about academic advising.

Registrar's Office

The primary function of the Registrar’s Office is to create and maintain student academic records, issue official transcripts, and verify and post degrees.  Additionally, the Registrar’s Office reports and records grades, verifies enrollment and graduation applications, maintains course offerings, schedules academic classrooms, determines academic honors, certifies VA educational benefits, determines NCAA Division III student athletic eligibility, and updates transfer credits from previous institutions.

Mount St. Joseph University has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) for electronic transcript ordering. Only an official transcript is sent directly to a student, third party, and/or institution specified by the student. The university is not permitted by law to issue copies of documents from other institutions. All financial obligations to the Mount must be resolved before release of a transcript will be permitted.
